Thursday 30th May 2019 became a big day for EE – being first to launch its 5G services, in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester.
- EE became the UK’s first network to switch on 5G.
- Stormzy captivated audiences with a 5G-powered gig on London’s iconic River Thames.
- New EE 5G Smart plans with first 5G smartphones from brands including Samsung and OnePlus are available today in EE stores across the UK, online and over the phone.
The gig, that took place on the River Thames, saw Stormzy perform, while EE streamed the performance over 5G. Fans were then able to watch via VR-360 on YouTube.
The UK’s first official 5G device, was the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. A super sleek smartphone, with triple lens setup, large bezel-free display, a pop up camera for those selfies, and super quick processor.
Samsung & Oppo are set to launch there own 5G devices, with Samsung’s S10 5G smartphone, set to release on 7th June 2019.
Oppo’s 5G device should be delivered within 14 days of ordering.
