The new Emerald Green edition, which is available to pre-order from today, comes in an understated verdant green finish, delivering and elegant and premium look

London, UK – 16 July 2020 Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) todayannounced the Huawei MateBook X Pro 2020 will be available to pre-order in Emerald Green from today on the Huawei Store, and will come bundled with a Huawei Watch GT 2 (Black) and a pair of Huawei FreeBuds 3 (Black, White or Red). The product goes on sale from 28th July for £1,699.99 RRP (Intel 10th GEN i7), whilst the Grey version is currently available to purchase from the Huawei Store.

In 2018, Huawei introduced the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro, the first-ever FullView notebook. Combining extreme portability, a premium FullView display, cutting-edge performance and smart connectivity, the first HUAWEI MateBook X Pro heralded the era of minimal-bezel notebooks, and was a milestone marking the beginning of Huawei’s rise to prominence in the PC business. On February 24th, Huawei launched the newly updated the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro. It exhibits all the characteristics that define the flagship notebook: artistic design, innovation and intelligence, bringing the performance and all-scenario interconnectivity of the flagship notebook to new heights.

As an ultra-slim flagship notebook, the all-new HUAWEI MateBook X Pro epitomises Huawei’s signature design and craftsmanship. Meanwhile, the breakthroughs in the touch-enabled Ultra FullView display, power consumption, performance and all-scenario connectivity empower consumers to stay productive anytime, anywhere. The premium aesthetics, innovative technology and intelligence are engrained in the DNA of the MateBook X Pro Series, and the latest iteration exemplifies that heritage. It is our most powerful, portable and intelligent all-purpose device yet, and we’re excited to bring that to the hands of consumers,” said Wang Yinfeng, President of PC and Tablet Product Line, Huawei Consumer BG.

The Breathtaking Ultra FullView Experience

The HUAWEI MateBook X Pro is made for jet-setting business users and professional content creators, power users that pursue—or demand—a high quality of life. On the outside, the new HUAWEI MateBook X Pro features a CNC machined metallic unibody with a premium sandblasted finish that gives the exterior a smooth hand-feel. The HUAWEI MateBook X Pro is available in Mystic Silver, Space Gray and a new Emerald Green colourway, which comes in an understated verdant green finish that elegantly envelops the chassis. The lid of the Emerald Green model is accented with a golden Huawei branding, giving it an instantly classic look. Huawei’s latest flagship notebook is superbly portable; it is only 14.6mm thick and weighs 1.33kg, making it the perfect device for any professional who values mobility and productivity.

Leveraging leading industrial design capabilities, Huawei created the Ultra FullView display. With slim bezels on all sides, the Ultra FullView display achieves an impressive 91 percent screen-to-body ratio on the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro. Better yet, Huawei boldly adopts an unconventional 3:2 aspect ratio for the display, which is much more suited for productivity and content creation compared to mainstream widescreens.

The Ultra FullView display is a 13.9-inch LTPS panel supporting up to a 3K resolution (3000×2000) and 100 percent of the sRGB color gamut. The rich colors and 3K resolution help bring content to life, providing a more immersive entertainment experience than ever before. Additionally, it supports 10-point multi-touch and Fingers Gesture Screenshot to give users a new and more intuitive way to interface with their devices.

Ultimate Performance Drives Maximum Productivity

HUAWEI MateBook X Pro embodies the latest notebook innovation. Inside the lightweight and portable new HUAWEI MateBook X Pro is uncompromised performance with the 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-10510U and i5-10210U. Equipped with NVIDIA® GeForce® MX250 running on 2GB GDDR5, the new HUAWEI MateBook X Pro delivers a smooth experience in every scenario from graphic and video editing, to gaming and multimedia content consumption. For cooling, the latest flagship notebook houses an intelligent cooling system that dynamically switches between active and passive modes for efficient and silent cooling performance, while the two HUAWEI Shark Fin Fans 2.0 feature larger fins to produce a higher air output. The new HUAWEI MateBook X Pro also features an intelligent filtering technology that provides real-time system temperature monitoring, giving the notebook a smoother fan curve, which ultimately leads to quieter operations.

Besides being a powerful productivity enabler, the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro features the quad speakers, bringing exceptional sound experience with breathtaking, moving audio that flows above and around you. You’ll feel like you’re just inside the action while enjoying mobile entertainment on the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro in your leisure time.

Plus, the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro packs a massive 56Wh battery. Coupled with Huawei’s proprietary power-saving modes, users can enjoy all-day battery life, untethered by any power cable.

Meanwhile, the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro comes with a 65 W Type-C portable adapter which can be used with a range of charging outputs. As well as using the power adapter to charge your laptop, it supports HUAWEI SuperCharge for certain phones. With this power adapter, you can quickly charge wherever you are.

Travelers will be delighted to know that the new HUAWEI MateBook X Pro supports world’s fastest Wi-Fi on a notebook, which allows it to get better signal reception and provide more stable connectivity than ever before. Bluetooth 5.0 on the latest flagship MateBook has quicker data transmission speeds with wider signal coverage and stronger broadcasting capabilities over its previous iteration. This means the new notebook can be connected from a longer distance, with more stable signals.

All-Scenario Intelligent Interconnectivity: Huawei Share

Laptops in the future will be more intelligent, more efficient, and more connected. We’re helping to drive the future with new innovations, which caters for all scenarios and delivers an interactive experience that seamlessly incorporates your laptop and your phone. We’re also fitting our devices with Multi-screen Collaboration, a function of Huawei Share.

The significance of Multi-screen Collaboration lies not only in enabling file transfer between the laptop and smartphone, but also in making seamless collaboration between the laptop and smartphone comes true. That is to say, by building on powerful processing capability and the basic system capabilities of the MateBook, Huawei was able to clear the obstacle between the basic architecture of Windows and Android systems, realising the full potential of seamlessly connecting the two.

At the same time, laptop accessories such as the keyboard, camera, microphone and mouse can now be used as peripherals of your smartphone, providing a more convenient user experience. The laptop is then able to share more advanced office applications with your phone to uncover a brand-new office experience that includes your phone, for a much more secure and convenient office environment.

As a pioneer in smart device innovation, Huawei applies its technological expertise on its HUAWEI MateBook X Pro to deliver the best user experience. First-in-industry technologies like the Fingerprint Power Button and recessed camera provide a convenient, one-of-a-kind experience. The former lets users quickly authenticate their identity on power up, and the latter protects user privacy while maximising the display area.

Huawei remains committed to the high-end notebook market and delivering the all-scenario experience. Moving forward, Huawei will continue to integrate its leading smartphone innovations into its PC products, with an aim to further enhance the user experience and let more consumers enjoy the craftsmanship, innovation and smart technologies that characterise its flagship products.

Microsoft Announce New Products

Microsoft announced a plethora of products today and one in particular got my attention.

Source: Microsoft

The Surface Pro X is Microsoft’s next-gen laptop/tablet hybrid. With a higher resolution 13in screen, the device coming in at only 5.3mm thick at its thinnest point and weighs 762g. It keeps the detachable keyboard from Microsoft’s existing product line, but introduces a new slim stylus that fits between the keyboard and tablet for charging and storage, wirelessly of course.

It uses a new SQ1 chip, and Microsoft said the chip is three times more powerful than the processor in the existing Surface Pro 6.

The Pro X has always-connected 4G and will start from £999 in the UK. Shipping in early November.

Microsoft also announced the Surface Pro 7. Which will use Intel’s 10th generation Core chips.

The addition of USB-C connectivity to the tablet means faster charging that will help the battery reach 80%, in about an hour.

The Surface Pro 7 will cost from £799 in the UK. And will ship on October 22nd.

Microsoft also refreshed their traditional laptops, including the 13.5in and a brand new 15in Surface Laptop 3.

The 13.5in Surface Laptop 3 comes in either aluminium or Microsoft’s fabric Alcantara finish, and has USB-C.

The larger 15in Surface Laptop 3 claims to have fastest graphics of any laptop in its class. Both laptops feature all-day battery life and Microsoft’s new fast-charging technology.

The 13in Surface Laptop 3 cost will start from £999 and the 15in version will start from £1,199. Both laptops will start shipping from October 22nd.

Microsoft also announced its own true wireless earbuds – Surface Earbuds – which will rival Apple’s AirPods & Samsung’s Galaxy Buds.

The earbuds feature one-click pairing, support multiple devices.

They can be connected to PCs, phones and tablets from all brands, while retaining up to 24-hour battery life with charging case – similar to the AirPods and Galaxy Buds cases – the Surface Earbuds contain a dual-mic array in each ear, which will help pick up the user’s voice.

They have Spotify integration and gesture controls for volume and playback.

The Surface Earbuds will cost $249 and ship later this year in the US. No word on UK pricing or release as of yet. But we can bet it’ll be £249.

Microsoft revealed the Surface Neo, a dual-screen table with a hinge in the middle. (Not a foldable screen)

The Neo will have a detachable keyboard (purchased separately?) and can be opened and used in many different forms. Thanks to it’s 360 degree foldable hinge.
It supports the Surface Pen – which attaches to the back of the device – and comes in at 5.6mm thick.

The Surface Neo will launch, Holiday 2020. (Yes, we know… say no more).

Microsoft also unveiled the Surface Duo – a dual-screen folding phone, Which also is 360 degree foldable via a hinge in the middle of the two screens.

Talking of screens, the Duo has two 5.6in screens and will allow you to work on the device in a mixture of different ways, only this time, it will run on Android rather than Windows X.

Microsoft have partnered with Google to bring Android apps and the Play Store to the Duo. And will be interesting to see how apps will be displayed.

Could it be possible to run two separate apps on each of the screens? I normally lead up to the line “We won’t have long to find out.” But in this case, unfortunately we do. Microsoft will again launch the Surface Duo around Holiday 2020.
